LA PAZ, MEXICO

November 28th 2019 Day 147
Waited out a Cabo rain storm while completing housekeeping, provisioning
at Walmart and getting the boat shipshape for the next passage to LaPaz,
spending the evening with dinner on shore.

Friday, November 29th 2019 Day 148
San Jose Del Cabo to La Paz, Mexico
132 nm    20 hrs

We intentionally waited to leave San Jose Del Cabo at 1pm.
That made our arrival time at LaPaz, Marina Cortez at 9am.
And that is how it turned out! The girls had the night shift,
helping to keep each awake over night on the radio,
while the dudes relaxed or napped.
We don't use prescribed watches, it's more like go with the flow.
We use the watch berth in the pilot house at will, play games,
dig out food at when hunger pangs and play music when the darkness encompasses you.

This is a drone photo of us rounding the cape that Kevin and Alison onboard Red Rover made happen
on the VHF radio. Obviously we do not travel that close. Everyone went into idle,
got close and the drone was launched for the shot.
Five Nordies and One Selene. From left to right,
Igloo a 47, Partida a 46, Red Rover a 55, Pairadice a 47, Epoch a 47 and Audry May a 57

Dolphins on the Bow, Never gets old.

Great timing for a full moon escort.

We were surrounded by giant boats here in La Paz.
Along the Malecon

I introduced myself to the dentists right away.
They had only two dental chairs with units.
They work without hygienists or assistants, doing their own sterilization.

Patches loves a sandy beach!

Art work on the Malecon of La Paz, probably the most of any Malicon in MX.

Christmas boat parade.

Ian and Mary on Aegis joined us for the parade.

Taking some advantage of a windy day.
John has several stunt kites and is very good at flying them!

Everyone must stop by Harker's and enjoy a meal there.
We dined on the roof top the first time.

This was another time when we were joined by Mary, Ian, Elaine, Mike....

The murals are everywhere.

Sunset lights up the sky.

We would often stroll on the Malecon after dinner.

There was a Christmas bizarre at the neighboring marina.
11 year old Everest entertained us with his bad blues!
He travels with his parents on S/V Pandion (68') and loves every bit of their cruising life style.
We continued to cross paths with them and I even got a guitar lesson from him.

There is a farmers market off the Malecon every Tuesday and Saturday.
I tried to never miss it!

I made friends with these guys, who had a wonderful display of rocks!

My farmers market score!

A bit of Christmas decor for the holidays.

John making a repair from some storm damage.

More artwork.
The mermaids.

A hotel lobby light up for Christmas.

Another outdoor dining experience on the water.

Views from the restaurant.
Every place is in walking distance.

Had some boat work done while in La Paz.
Our side boards were showing there age.
Found some good people to do it and very reasonable.

Another parade...

 Repairing the washer/dryer again.

Homemade sourdough with our dinner.

Another sculptor, "The Offering".

This went on for about a week.

Patches and I make friends everywhere we go.
Here we were saying goodbye to the security officers.

Early morning dog walk, saying goodbye.
We had a nice weather window to cross the Sea of Cortez the following day.
January 8th 2020, day 188  We left a 7am fueled up in La Paz. We were underway
56nm  8.5 hours, dropped the hook at 3:30 in the De Los Muertos Bahia for a good
nights sleep. The following day was an overnight cruise 190 nm miles to Mazatlan.
