Skipper John's keen eye saw Hale Kai anchored here at Shoal Bay. Good thing too, we may not have stopped! |
Taz, the welcoming committee, invited us to happy hour. Friday, June 3rd (day 66) We are staying here for the night. Moorage is $.75 per foot. You pay at the pub. |
"The Shoal Bay Pub" is the building to port. |
Fellow mariners, cruising by. |
Tulip, protecting her compound. |
John heading to the local pub. |
Taz is waiting for someone to play ball. |
Hummingbirds swarming the pub deck. |
Taz, the doggie in the back is on a visiting boat. The resident doggie is Tulip. |
John is making friends again, imagine that! Getting tips from other cruisers, I'm sure. |
We were so glad to have stopped here at Shoal Bay! |
Only one night at this amazing place, on the Blind Channel tomorrow. |
Blind Channel Resort is owned by the Richter family, who bought it in 1970. We arrived here on Saturday, June 4th (day 67)
We ended up bringing the bow more forward for a much needed anchor repair. I now carry cotter pins in my change purse. The assortment is much easier to find that way :-) |
I think he's hoping no necessary parts went overboard. |
My bathroom is now the laundry room. I'm told, laundry is a "pink job". |
John hiked with me to the 800 year old cedar tree in the botanical forest on West Thurlow Island. |
They call these root balls. |

A memorial placed by the family... for the late Annemarie, the wife of Edgar Richter, the original owners, designers and builders of Blind Channel Resort. The trails are maintained by Interfor. |
